Jackie has been very active on the Waterloo Region music education scene for nearly 10 years, bringing national and international events to the Region’s school music programs. She has served on the board of directors for the Wellington Winds, Grand River Jazz Society (who run The Jazz Room), and other groups. As the former Educational Services Consultant for Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, she brought new opportunities for students to further their musical experience to the Region’s elementary and secondary schools, and has taken on various support roles in local initiatives.
Jackie has expanded the UpTown Waterloo Jazz Festival’s youth education program to include multiple instrumental ensembles, a jazz choir, and kids’ bucket drumming workshops – all taking place at the Festival stages. An avid live music supporter, she is frequently attends a broad range of the art community’s offerings. Jackie has been a UWJF board member since 2012, having volunteered for 2 years before that.
Jackie is a veteran yoga teacher, having gotten her start in Vinyasa yoga but also specializing in pre- and post-natal yoga for moms. She is in high demand in Waterloo Region’s schools, gyms, yoga studios, and community centres, teaching approximately a dozen classes per week at various venues and designing curricula to train future yoga teachers.
